Demoline Arthur Richard passed away peacefully April 26, 2002 at the Bulkley Valley District Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Art was born April 5, 1949 in Swan River, Manitoba.
He spent 32 years in the Health Care field. First as a Lab and X-Ray Tech in Swan River. He furthered his education earning a degree in hospital administration at the University of Saskatchewan in 1983.
Over the years he worked in Saskatchewan and Alberta. In 1991, he moved to Smithers where he was administrator at the Bulkley Lodge. Art finished his career in Bella Coola, B.C. One of his dreams was fulfilled as he lived by the mountains and by the ocean.
His life was filled with changes and challenges, but also many joys. Art will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered for his zest for life, sense of humour, determined spirit, positive attitude, incredible wisdom and most of all his unconditional love.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Candace; children, Dana (Frank) and Bryce (Wendy); and grandchildren Caleb, Lucas and Chloe. He will also be missed by family, extended family, friends and colleagues.
As per Art’s wishes he will be cremated and his ashes scattered. Pursuant to Art’s wishes there will not be a funeral or memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bulkley Lodge in memory of Art.
