DE RUYTER, ARIE MARTIN passed away April 11, 2011 surrounded by family and love in the Bulkley Valley District Hospital at the age of 57 years.
Born in Jasper, AB on Jan. 9, 1954 to Martin and Nelly DeRuyter, he moved to Smithers where he worked for 31 years at Pacific Inland Resources. Martin was married to Wilma (nee Haar) on Oct. 5, 1979 and has two daughters Melanie (John) Martin and Valerie DeRuyter.
Martin is survived by his loving wife, two daughters, three grandsons, Austin, Jerimy and Quinn. He is also survived by his mother Nelly of Abbotsford, B.C., brothers George (Debbie) of Abbotsford, B.C. and Edward (Marian) of Rocky Mountain House, AB. He also leaves to mourn cousins, nephews, nieces and a host of friends.

A Memorial Service for Martin was held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 in the Smithers Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Dan Hoogland officiating. Interment was in the Smithers Cemetery.
