Anna Joan (Fougere) Whalley was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. She was the youngest of nine children born to Margaret (Doiron) and Charles Fougere. At her age of six the family moved to Truro, NS. She attended Alice St. Central schools then Colchester Co. Academy. After working in retail for three years she went to business school in Pembroke Ontario.
She returned to NS and worked as a legal secretary in Dartmouth where she met her future husband, Edward Whalley. They were married in Truro in July 1961 and immediately moved to Victoria BC. In BC they also lived in Sidney, Chilliwack, Smithers and Maple Ridge.
Joan was predeceased by her husband Edward, daughter Trina Storey, sister Rita Armstrong, and brothers Leo, Clement, Raymond, Joseph, Charles & Francis. She is survived by her sons Michael (Bernice), Vincent (Debra) & Trevor (Siobhan), grandchildren Bradley & Mandi Storey, Sheldon, Kaine, Crystal, Kellen, Brenna, Tayah & Maeve Whalley, great granddaughter Haley Jayne Storey, sister Helen Wheadon of Dartmouth NS, and many nieces & nephews.
Anna Joan' s cremains are resting at the cemetery in Smithers, BC with her husband Edward and daughter Trina.
