July 25, 1958 - May 26, 2024

In loving memory ~

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anita Maureen Trenerry (nee Bunker) on May 26th, 2024.

Anita was born on July 25th, 1958, in Vancouver, BC. She lived in Green Lake until the age of 2 when the family moved to Clinton. She lived there until moving to Vancouver to attend nursing school at SFU. In 1979 the family made the move up to Smithers, BC. She made use of her nursing education by working with Dr. Miller and in an optometrist's office.

In 1982 she married Les Trenerry and they, along with Anita's parents Phyllis and Alan (Bud), bought acreage out in Evelyn in 1985. They settled on the farm and raised sons, Kieran and Blake there. Life on the farm was busy yet serene with a large garden, animals and plenty of fun to keep the boys occupied.

Anita's love for sewing and passing along her seemingly limitless knowledge on the topic led her to open Fabrications with Phyllis, in 1986. Anyone who had any sort of question regarding sewing or creating could find the answer there. Her customers meant the world to her, and she thrived being a part of their creative journey.

Fabrications, her family and gardening were always top of her list of things she loved, and her stories of skiing, taking the boys to track and field events, the family cabin at Quesnel Lake and visiting Les' family in Alberta were reminisced about often.

For most of the past 20 years, Anita directed the local women's barbershop chorus Sweet Harmony. Her musical talents and knowledge culminated in leading Sweet Harmony to gold at the Lakes District Festival of the Performing Arts. Anita also helped organize the petting zoo at the Bulkley Valley Fall Fair for several years.

Anita was predeceased by her father, Bud. She is survived by her loving husband Les, sons Kieran (Alex) and Blake (Lex), siblings Sam (Doug), Teresa (Ken) and Arnie as well as her grandson Cash; the apple of her eye and with whom she loved to read.

A celebration of life will be held this summer, and details will be announced at a later date.
