Cooper, Allan Webb

Allan Cooper was born in Victoria April 22, 1942 and passed away peacefully at the Irene Thomas Hospice, Delta, on February 3, 2011. Allan grew up in Vancouver, attending Vancouver Technical School and UBC where he completed his Master of Education Degree. He was a teacher and a principal at several schools in the 100 Mile House and Williams Lake area and then Supervisor of Instruction on the Queen Charlotte Islands. Al lived in Smithers for 19 years where he was the Assistant Superintendent and then Superintendent of Schools, retiring in 1997. Allan was predeceased by his father Gordon in 1988 and is survived by his mother Myrtle, sister Carole (Bill) Milne, niece Alisa (Mark) Nielsen, nephew Adam Milne and great niece Rachelle Nielsen. He will be missed by the many lives he touched with his intelligence, warmth, humour and acceptance. He lived his life with quiet strength, style, graciousness and a continuing interest in life around him. It was Allan’s wish that there be no service. Donations may be made to the BC Cancer Society.

Miss me but let me go, when I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me. I want no rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for souls set free? Miss me a little but not too long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared. Miss me but let me go. And when you are lonely and sick at heart, go to the friends we know and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me but let me go.
