It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred (Bob) Steiger on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008.
Bob was predeceased by his mother (Mildred) in March 2000.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lorraine, his children Wendy (Tim), Rod (Kim), John (Melanie), Bryce (Terry) and Lori (George). He is survived by 12 grandchildren who were the apple of his eye. Bob is also survived by his father, Alfred Steiger, his sister Faye (Alex) Herdmann as well as Patricia, serveral brother and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Bob was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1939. He moved to Vancouver when he was 14 and joined the Navy when he was 18. After spending several years in Smithers, B.C., Bob and Lorraine moved to Vancouver Island in 1989. Bob’s joys in life were his family, fishing, camping and hockey.
Special thank you to the Palliative Care Nurses, particularly Jan, and to Dr. Humphries for the wonderful care Bob received during his illness.
A memorial service will be held at Sands in Naniamo on March 19 at 1:00 p.m. An additional memorial will be held in Smithers in July 2008.
