AGNES (NESSIE) (nee Apfelthaler) COX

January 31, 2011

COX, AGNES ‘NESSIE’ (nee Apfelthaler) passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by close friends on Jan. 31, 2011 at the age of 91yrs.

Nessie was born on Dec. 10, 1919 in the Czech Republic and became a master tailor in Europe. She immigrated to Canada in the 1950s and opened a tailor shop on 1st Ave. in Smithers. She married Jim Rennie and when he passed away she continued with her work as a tailor, doing alterations for Hetherington & Hooper and Central Clothing from 1964-1976. Nessie closed her shop on 1st Ave. after she married Les Cox.

Nessie lived a full life. She loved animals and often fed the local wildlife. In her senior years she would go out and feed the horses of friends and loved to go for drives on the back roads. She was fun loving and we are glad we could call her friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.

There will be a Funeral Service on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the R.A. Schrader Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Richmond officiating. A celebration of her life will follow at the Legion. Nessie will be laid to rest in the Legion section of the Smithers Cemetery.
