The Town of Smithers Council is seeking four (4) community members at large to fill vacant positions on the newly established Select Committee on Community Safety and Well Being.
The Select Committee will be made up of representatives from the Smithers and District Chamber of Commerce, Smithers Community Services Association, Citizens on Patrol, the Office of the Wet’suwet’en, Northern Health, RCMP, Town Staff, and community members at large, who have an interest in community safety and wellbeing.
The purpose of the Select Committee is to explore, evaluate, and recommend to Council actionable policies, programs, and initiatives aimed at reducing crime and fostering a sense of safety in Smithers.
Members of the Select Committee will be appointed by Council for a two-year term and will meet monthly.
