Witset will move to a “development corporation management model” which will amalgamate all band owned businesses under one corporation.

Witset said in a media release it made this move after a recommendation from Harris Palmer Consulting.

It is unclear what this model will look like.

Executive director Lucy Gagnon did not respond to The Interior News request for comment.

As a result of this change the position of economic development officer held by Norma Stumborg has been eliminated.

“[Stumborg] was instrumental in creating our newly revitalized, fully accessible 40-site Kyah RV Park and launching Tourism Witset,” Cheif Victor Jim said in a press release.

It is unknown when the development corporation will be begin operation or who will be in charge of that sector in the interim.

Whether anyone will be hired to replace Stumborg is also unknown.
