Wire fire takes out airport Hydro connection

Smithers airport relied on a generator after a Hydro wire fell to the ground and started a grass fire Tuesday evening.

Emergency and BC Hydro crews were called early Tuesday evening to the scene of a grass fire near the Smithers Regional Airport after a wire fell from its Hydro tower perch.

Airport manager Rob Blackburn said a generator was used while Hydro crews worked to repair the damage.
