Travel website Trivago named its top 10 best value cities and small towns to visit for 2017. Smithers was number three in the small town category.
Smithers was also the top value small town destination in B.C.
Trivago used its own algorithm based on hotel prices and overall ratings. The 2017 Best Value Small Town list indicates cities or towns in Canada with fewer than 50 hotels in total.
"Determined by an exclusive algorithm that considers both hotel prices and overall ratings, the destinations that top the list are not only easy on the wallet, but also show off the incredible diversity of options and experiences Canada-wide," read the announcement.
Gaspé, Que. and Whitecourt, Alta. took first and second-place in the ratings. The top city named was Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.
