Telkwa museum budget circulated to council

The Telkwa Museum Society is looking at a shortfall of $3,825.07 according to their 2011 budget circulated to Village of Telkwa council.

The society is looking at a budget of $15,300 income and expenses of $19,125.07.

The group provided a far more detailed report to council than usual due to requirements of a grant which they received from the Bulkley Valley Foundation of $500.

However seeing their list of accomplishments certainly put a smile on their faces, according to society president Doug Boersema.

Council has lined up the same budgeted amount for the museum as they had last year, at $7,700.

Councillor Rimas Zitauskas praised the work of the museum and also highlighted their project to record the oral history of some of the community’s more senior members.

That was one of the many projects and highlights noted in the society’s general report on the museum up to December 2010, attached to the society’s budget.

Looking ahead, they hope to reconfigure their back room to make artifacts more accessible to visitors and researchers.
