On Thursday, June 8 shortly after midnight (Wednesday night) at Sunset Lake campground in Topley, two graduating students of Houston Secondary School were stabbed during pre-grad celebrations.
A witness who wants to remain anonymous told Houston Today, “One got stabbed and the other got his hand cut. The attacker was badly beaten up.”
An RCMP media release sent Tuesday said police arrived to find three people in need of medical attention, “as a result of an altercation involving several people.” It goes on to read that those injured were taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
One man has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault and is scheduled to appear in Houston Provincial Court on July 17.
According to the witness there is a lot of speculation as to how the incident started.
The witness is unsure of the exact details but said a verbal fight was instigated by the one graduating student, which triggered a fist fight with the alleged knife attacker, who became unconscious during the fight and then once regained consciousness attacked one graduating student with a knife.
According to the witness, the second graduating student stepped in and that is how his hand got cut.
“The ambulance, fire department, and cops arrived shortly after,” said the witness.
According to the witness, others stepped in to stop the fight and the alleged knife attacker was then beaten up by a group of people.
Unconfirmed reports say the alleged attacker was not a graduating student.
