Snowfall with total amounts of 20 to 25 cm is expected in the Bulkley Valley today into Thursday.
Environment Canada says an Arctic cold front descending from the north will collide over the Bulkley Valley with a Pacific warm front arriving from the south tonight. This clash of airmasses will result in an extended period of snowfall as the frontal boundary remains stalled over the region through Thursday.
Light snow will fall Wednesday afternoon with two to four cm expected. The snowfall will intensify in the evening with 20 to 25 cm of total snowfall expected by late Thursday over the Bulkley Valley.
For Highway 16 from Smithers to Terrace, generally light accumulations are expected along the route except south of Moricetown where 15 cm is anticipated.
The snowfall will slowly taper off Thursday night and is forecast to end on Friday morning.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
