Smithers RCMP received 100 calls for service during the week of June 5-11.

On June 5 at 2:35 a.m., Smithers RCMP responded to an assist ambulance request regarding a possible home invasion at the Mountainview Motel.

One occupant was injured, assessed by ambulance and released. The occupant sustained minor injuries when unknown males forced their way into the room. Unfortunately, the occupant did not wish to cooperate with the police. Smithers RCMP are requesting assistance from the public with any information regarding this incident.

Backpacks back

On June 8 at 5:06 p.m., Smithers RCMP received a report of a male observed on video surveillance at the Legion stealing two backpacks. Police located and identified the 42-year-old male approximately one hour later. The male was arrested for theft and breach of recognizance (curfew conditions). The backpacks were located and the male was held in custody for court.

Roadside prohibition

On June 10 at 4:10 p.m., Smithers RCMP pulled over a Chrysler sedan driven by a 47-year-old male driver. The non-local resident provided samples of breath into an approved roadside screening device which registered a fail. As a result, the driver received a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
