The fire ban issued last month for the Town of Smithers will end today.

Residents will be able to burn again starting at noon, Tuesday, The Town said in a statement.

While officials say the wildfire risk is low, they are asking residents to remain cautious with their use of open fires.

The fire ban was put in place in July, prohibiting any camp fires and other types of open fires within the municipality of Smithers because of the large number of wildfires in BC.
