Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP releases infrastructure priority report

MP Nathan Cullen has released his infrastructure priority report after touring the Skeena-Bulkley Valley riding earlier this year.

A mental health and substance abuse centre in Hazelton, water and sewer infrastructure plus more seniors housing in Smithers, and better cellular service everywhere are the main takeaways regarding the Bulkley Valley from local NDP MP Nathan Cullen's infrastructure priority report released Tuesday.

Culllen held town halls online and in 10 communities, including Smithers, to gauge what constituents wanted the federal government to prioritize in the coming infrastructure funding plan, a major promise of the governing Liberals during last fall's election campaign.

The report, entitled Investing in Our Communities: Infrastructure Priorities for the Northwest 2016-2019, centres around eleven key funding priorities for the region.

Skeena-Bulkley Valley received $9.2 million, or 13 per cent, of total federal gas tax dollars for British Columbia in February.
