The Ministry of Environment issued a Road Dust Advisory, Tuesday, Mar. 5, for Houston, Burns Lake and Smithers because of high concentrations of dust that are expected to persist until Saturday March 9, 2013.
Friday, March 8, the Ministry extended the advisory to include Terrace.
During the advisory, Northern Health suggests avoiding strenuous outdoor activities and stay indoors with windows and doors closed.
Anyone experiencing symptoms such as continuing eye or throat irritation, chest discomfort, shortness of breath, cough or wheeze, should follow the advice of their health care provider, particularly the elderly and residents with asthma, hay fever, breathing or lung conditions, or people who react strongly to road dust.
