Since Jan. 23, Smithers RCMP said they have responded to a total of 10 reported motor vehicle crashes.

That count does not include other crashes RCMP were not called out to.

These accidents have involved both single and multiple vehicles collisions. A few have included rollovers.

Smithers RCMP said in a release that people have been fortunate with those who caused these accidents and others impacted not being seriously injured.Police remind drivers we cannot rely on good fortune, and that drivers need to know road conditions are at times variable.

The posted speed limit is not always a safe speed to drive. The drivers around you cannot respond as quickly as when conditions are good.

More inclement weather is expected this weekend. Winter driving conditions will persist. Smithers RCMP are encouraging drivers to slow down, drive to road conditions, and err on the side of caution, adding the consequences of failing to take heed of these recommendations can have devastating consequences.
