One 20-year-old male was issued three violation tickets and a seven day impoundment after driving without consideration last week. Smithers RCMP were conducting a road block on April 4 at about 12 a.m. when they were approached by a blue Chevrolet Camaro near Hankin Avenue and 5th Street in Telkwa.
The police recognized the driver, who almost stopped before accelerating and swerving, forcing police off the road. The car continued to swerve down the road, RCMP report, squealing its tires around a corner. Shortly after, a Dodge pickup drove past, with the Camaro driver, who appeared intoxicated, as a passenger.
The Camaro driver is now facing three violation tickets under the Motor Vehicle Act, and his vehicle was towed, but was later stolen from the impound lot.RCMP are continuing their investigation into the theft.
