Police Beat for April 13

March 31

Smithers RCMP received a report of a break and enter to Perry & Co, located at 1081 Main St. A rear window had been broken and a laptop was stolen. Through police investigation, RCMP arrested and charged Fred Patrick Jr. for theft under $5,000. Patrick plead guilty, resulting in a 90 day jail sentence and a one year probation for each count.

April 4

RCMP responded to a complaint of the theft of a bicycle from in front of Muheim Elementary School. The boy’s bike is described as a black and green BMX with no brakes, with pegs on the wheels.

April 6

Smithers RCMP responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from the 3500 block of 14th Avenue. Two days later, the vehicle was located near its original location, with moderate damage.

Over the past several weeks the Smithers RCMP have responded to a number of mischief to vehicle incidents within town boundaries, specifically on 13th Avenue, Fulton Avenue and Alfred Avenue. Police are reminding the public to remove any valuables left inside their vehicles and to ensure their vehicles are securely locked.
