One person killed in fatal collision east of Hazelton

Highway 16 east of Hazelton is closed in both directions after a fatal three-car collision this morning at about 9 a.m.

The crash occurred near Mud Flat Creek, about 15 kilometres east of Hazleton. Upon arrival, emergency service providers determined one person died on scene.

“The investigation is ongoing and further updates will be provided as they become available,” said Cpl. Craig Douglass, RCMP media relations officer.

Highway 16 is expected to be closed for several hours. No alternative route is available for stranded motorists.
