MP concerned over a privacy act

An act that would, if passed, give information collected by airlines to the American government continues to worry MP Nathan Cullen.

Information would be collected from airline passengers who are flying over American space, Cullen said, noting that this would include flights from Vancouver to Toronto because, even though the passenger never sets foot on American soil, the plane is required to fly over a portion of the U.S.A. to get to its destination.

“Your Visa, your passport number, all of that will have automatically been beamed to computers in Washington, where after that we have no control,” Cullen said.

It’s a further affront to our sovereignty, Cullen said, who continues to voice his disapproval on the issue, although other parties haven’t moved much with the proposed act.
