Motorcyclist hurt in collision on highway near New Hazelton

New Hazelton RCMP responded to a reported collision between a motorcycle and a pick-up on Highway 16.

On Sunday, June 27, the New Hazelton responded to a reported collision on the highway at approximately 3:45 p.m.

The incident took place on Highway 16 at the Suskwa Forest Service Road intersection, approximately 10 km east of New Hazelton.

So far investigators have been able to determine that an eastbound pickup truck towing a flatbed trailer was turning left off of Highway 16 onto the Suskwa Forest Service Road and the motorcycle, traveling eastbound as well.

The motorcycle collided with the side of the flatbed trailer as it crossed the westbound lane of the highway, ejecting the motorcyclist.

The driver was taken to the Bulkley Valley District Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Traffic was closed for an hour and a half before traffic was able to get through the scene.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation by police.
