Man killed in Babine Lake Road crash identified

A man who died in a car crash near Smithers on Monday has been identified as William Edward Gush, aged 61, of Telkwa.

A man who died in a car crash near Smithers on Monday has been identified as William Edward Gush, aged 61, of Telkwa.

Gush had pulled over and was standing next to his pickup truck on Babine Lake Road when another pickup truck travelling in the same direction vehicle struck him after hitting his vehicle.

Police and emergency services found him deceased at the scene.

The RCMP said on Tuesday the driver of the second vehicle was being investigated for impaired driving causing death.

A statement from the B.C. Coroners Service today said the RCMP was still investigating Gush's death.

The crash was the second tragedy on Smithers area roads in two days.

Randy Basil Mitchell, 47, of Smithers died in a crash near Moricetown on Saturday, April 4.
