At 4 p.m. on Friday, May 27, the Town of Smithers issued a Declaration of a State of Local Emergency due to the flooding emergency.
Shortly after issuing the order, Rosenthal Road was given an evacuation order.
The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako later in the evening issued an evacuation order for the Ebenezer Flats area, extending north from 2175 22nd Avenue to 2690 Bulkley Street, Smithers.
A reception centre for those people has been established to assist evacuees at Ranger Park.

In Smithers, evacuation alerts remain in effect for the 2100 block of Riverside, the 2700 block of Pacific Avenue and the 2100 block of Main Street.
The remainder of the Ebenezer Flats area not specified above remain on evacuation alert.
