A fire truck that was ready for a transfer to Quesnel was severely damaged in an act of vandalism on Pacific Inland Resources (PIR) property, the same night a pick-up truck was stolen from the same place.
RCMP were alerted to a stolen vehicle from PIR's property on Tatlow Road on July 14.
The truck, a 1995 single cab green Ford F150 was later located and recovered in the highway pull out on Highway 16 on the west side of the Bulkley Bridge. Police saw a young male driver flee into the wooded area and were unable to catch him.
A second call was received from PIR saying that more damage was discovered in a shop on the mill property. This time a 2007 Freightliner fire truck was damaged and numerous items were broken or stolen, RCMP said.
Those items stolen include a 5,000 watt Honda generator.
The fire truck was in storage in anticipation of transfer to Quesnel.
Both events are thought to have occurred sometime between 2 and 4 a.m. on July 14.
It is thought that the suspect or suspects gained entrance to the yard by ATV from the Seymour Lake area entrance, using the stolen pick-up truck to transport the generator.
Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to contact the RCMP at 250-847-3233, or call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
