Community mourning loss of Roy Morris

The community is mourning the loss of Roy Morris, Hereditary Chief of the Gitdumden Clan also known by his chief name Woss.

Morris passed away suddenly on March 11.

Family has come to the area from all over the province and Alberta to pay their respects. A Smoke Feast was held on Sunday and later this week the family will hold a memorial and funeral service.

Morris was well respected throughout the Wet'suwet'en nation. Announcing the news to media and members of local government, David Belford said that Chief Woss "knew the territories as no other," and that he had touched many in his life.

A more detailed story on Roy Morris' life will follow on interior-news.com in the coming days.
