Troll Ski Resort is paying it forward.
The hill, located east of Quesnel, is offering free skiing for the rest of the season to beleaguered Mount Timothy, Purden and Murray Ridge season ticket holders.
The Cariboo hill will now stay open seven days a week for the rest of the season after being closed themselves for a large portion of the winter, even losing out on hosting the recent Lhtako Quesnel 2024 BC Winter Games.
“We’re back open and want everyone to have a chance to get more days on the snow,” Troll posted on social media Feb 25.
Earlier this month, Shames Mountain near Terrace did the same, offering free lift passes for Murray Ridge, Purden, Mt. Timothy and Troll, whose season was “on pause” for a number of weeks.
Sun Peaks Resort recently also offered support for the smaller ski areas lacking snow this season.
Sun Peaks is offering three complimentary days of skiing at their resort for employees and passholders, 25 per cent discount on additional days, plus discounts on Sun Peaks Grand accommodation.
The lack of snow has forced several ski hills to pause or cancel the season in B.C. for the 2023/2024 as the province continues to experience drought conditions.
