Bulkley Valley Emergency Support Services’ mobile response unit was broken into last week.

According to the organization’s facebook page, roughly $500 of equipment was stolen and a door and window were damaged.

“Things can always be replaced and this unit will be ready for deployment again soon, but it is difficult to see happen,” a Facebook post stated. Our volunteers dedicate themselves to providing the highest level of service to our communities, regional district and the Province that they can.”

While discouraging, ESS says it is small step back for the team but will not change their level of service.

The community volunteer organization provides services to residents who have been affected by an emergency or disaster in the Town of Smithers, Village of Telkwa and Regional District of Bulkley Nechako area A.

They provide care for those affected by a wide range of emergencies and disasters, from single-family home fires to larger-scale disasters, such as wildfire and flooding events.

The mobile unit was purchased in 2019.
