The Bulkley Backcountry Ski Society are one of five recipients of funding from the federal government’s Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund.
President of the BBSS, Leanne Helkenberg, said the $68,000 would be put to good use.
“These funds will be used for road, trail and cabin maintenance,” Helkenberg said.
“This will help keep the Hankin-Evelyn Backcountry Recreation Area accessible to locals and tourists from around the world.”
On hand to dole out the cash was Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification Lynne Yelich.
“Our government, through the CIIF is continuing to support the Skeena-Bulkley Valley Region and communities like it across Canada,” Yelich said.
