Smithers RCMP responded to 103 calls this past week.

Smithers RCMP is reminding cyclists during this Bike to Work Week to properly safeguard bikes both indoors and outdoors when not in use.

Smithers police received theft reports this week of two high-end Santa Cruz mountain bikes stolen as a result of not being locked up. In both instances, the serial numbers were not readily available to record into the police databases, thus making the bikes untraceable and more difficult for police to reunite recovered bikes with their owners.

Smithers RCMP is encouraging all bike owners to log the serial number, lock their bike or run the risk of losing it all together.

Anyone with information regarding these bike thefts is requested to contact Smithers RCMP at 250-847-3233 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
