BC Election: Advanced voting increases

Elections BC reports a 28 per cent increase in advanced voting compared to the 2009 election.

If advanced voting is any indication, voter turnout today will exceed the 51 per cent mark for the 2009 election.

Elections BC reported a 28 per cent increase in the number of early voters for today's election, thats 380,741 votes, or about 12 per cent of the more than three million eligible voters in British Columbia.

In the electoral district of Stikine, 1,659 voters took advantage of advanced voting, roughly 12.5 per cent of the more than 13,000 eligible voters.

Candidates in the electoral district of Stikine are Doug Donaldson, NDP, Sharon Hartwell, Liberal, Jonathan Dieleman, Conservative, Rod Taylor, CHP, Roger Benham, Green and Jessie O'Leary, independent.
