Four bids for the new arena project were opened in council chambers on March 28.
The lowest bid, from Venture Pacific Construction Management, came in at $3.95 million while the highest bid of $6.86 ,illion was put forward by Mierau Contractors Ltd.
Town of Smithers staff will be analyzing the bids in the next couple of weeks and will provide a detailed report to council, likely at their April 23 regular meeting, said Mayor Taylor Bachrach.
“In a design-build tender, each of the proponents puts forward a design concept,” Bachrach said.
“We’ll be looking at both the cost factors and the designs.
“I’m excited to move onto the next step.”
None of the four bids received were from Bulkley Valley contractors.
