The Town of Smithers has launched a communications survey to gather community feedback.
The idea is find out from residents what they think is working, what isn’t, and how the town can do better at communicating with the public.
Council identified developing a communications strategy in the 2022-2026 Strategic Priorities plan, which emphasized improving communication as a key focus for enhancing transparency and strengthening relationships with the public.
Also part of that process was hiring an engagement and communications officer. Sam LeBlanc was hired in March and has been working on the groundwork of developing the communications plan.
LeBlanc said insights from the survey will directly guide the development of the new Communications Plan, providing a clear road map for how the town shares important information with residents and community partners.
The survey is open from Thursday, October 10 to Friday, November 1, 2024, and can be completed online or by paper copy. Physical copies are available at town hall.
All feedback collected will be reviewed and used to inform the town’s communications efforts moving forward. The results of the survey, along with the draft Communications Plan, will be shared with the public at a later date. The town anticipates the full communications plan will be ready in the spring.
