Organizers of the annual Terry Fox Run in Smithers are hoping this year will be bigger and better.
Last year, it raised around $1,000 with only 52 participants.
Volunteer Logan Flint, is hoping by bumping the usual Sunday morning time to the afternoon, a bigger crowd will emerge.
The event will be held at 2 p.m., with registration starting at 1 p.m.
"With it being Sunday, churches are usually letting out not until like 11 or 12 or later in the day. And so this gives them a little bit of time where, if they wanted to, they can come down and grab some lunch to help support cancer research, or even have time to come and be a part of the run as well," said Flint.
Also new this year, a fundraising barbecue is planned with a band scheduled to entertain at Central Park.
People can either run, walk or bike.
The Terry Fox Run is an annual non-competitive charity event held around the world to raise money for cancer research in commemoration of Canadian cancer activist Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope.
