The Smithers RCMP are hoping to reunite residents with their stolen goods.

A recent press release states that throughout the last two years, during the course of numerous investigations of thefts and possession of stolen property, police have located and seized a number of items that have not been claimed by their owners.

The items include power tools, hand tools, outdoor equipment and automotive equipment.

Mounties are advising those who have had property stolen and not previously reported it or did not previously provide serial numbers and item details, to contact the local detachment at 250-847-3233.

An officer will check your missing item against those currently in their custody.

RCMP also suggest writing down or taking pictures of the serial numbers on property such as tools, firearms, and electronics.

This will help the police to return suspected stolen property to the rightful owners.
