A local physician is being recognized for his work.

Dr. Marlowe Haskins has been awarded the December Cedar Award, which recognizes contributions and connections within the UBC Department of Family Practice.

Marlowe is a long-standing family doctor, and is the rural director for UBC’s Postgraduate Program.

He was nominated because he is a dedicated and enthusiastic preceptor in his community.

“He provides excellent guidance to all family practice residents when it comes to their rural training and career goals,” said his nominator Larissa McLean.

She went on to say in a press release, that he organizes the Essential Surgical Skills Course every year for more than 30 rural family practice residents and he recruits colleagues from across rural BC to help lead interactive, hands-on, relevant sessions for learners.

Every year the course evolves and improves, and it is routinely seen as a highlight of training for the residents.
