Santa is coming to town.
Santa’s Breakfast at the Prestige Hudson Bay Lodge in Smithers returns for its 23rd year on December 1 from 9 a.m - 11:30 a.m.
The annual tradition benefits those less fortunate and helps fill the shelves at the Salvation Army food bank.
"Last year we raised over $6000.00, and about 5000 lbs of non-perishables," said event organizer Emma Robinson. "We have set our goals a bit higher this year, as the demand has doubled. So our goal is $8750.00 and as many donations as the community is able to provide."
She added the Presitage continues to host this event every year to bring people together in support of those in need.
"Due to the generosity of our community, our volunteers, and our sponsors; We have been able to fill The Salvation Army (Bulkley Valley Ministries) food bank shelves, well into the new year. This allows for hot meals, warm clothes, and food hampers to be given out to families and individuals who are less fortunate in our community. The more donations we can bring in, the better! We want to go into the Holiday season with charity, community, and good cheer on our minds," she said.
A donation of non-perishable items for the food bank gets you one buffet breakfast with musical entertainment by local performers. All proceeds and donations go directly to the Salvation Army.
There will also be horse-drawn wagon rides by B & T Wagon and Sleigh Rides (by donation), pictures with Santa by Camus Photography, performances by the Bulkley Valley Youth Fiddlers, Sweet Harmony Choir and more.
Children can also drop off letters for Santa and there will be a colouring contest.
