The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako (RDBN) announced the re-election of Mark Parker as chair and Shane Brienen as vice-chair for 2024-2025.
Parker, Director for Electoral Area D (Fraser Lake Rural) and Shane Brienen, Mayor of Houston, were re-elected during the Nov. 21 board meeting,
In a Dec. 4 statement, Parker said he is honoured at being re-elected for another term.
"We are halfway through our current term of office, and it is truly a pleasure to see this group of dedicated people working hard to ensure their residents are well-served and our communities are thriving," he said.
"We never know what lies ahead, but the hard work being done to ensure our communities are resilient physically, economically, and socially is work we are proud to participate in," Parker added.
Vice-chair Brienen reflected on the challenges and successes of the past few years, particularly the successful advocacy for the Northwest Resource Benefits Alliance.
"This funding will help northern communities to continue the important investments in infrastructure that make our communities strong and vibrant. Residents in the RDBN are capable, resilient people, and I am proud to continue serving them as Vice-chair of the RDBN Board for another year,” Brienen said.
