The Smithers Skate Park Society is on track to complete Phase 2 of the Smithers Skate Park Expansion in May 2024, thanks to a generous donation.

The Society recently acquired $200,000 from the Power To Give Foundation and their philanthropic partner, The Annual Foundation.

The Power To Give Foundation is an organization that delivers funds to social entrepreneurs who are looking to create change in smaller communities.

With a small amount of additional fundraising, the Society will be able to complete Phase 2 of the project, which is expected to cost $518,280. Phase 2 involves the much-anticipated addition of a bowl, as well as enhanced landscaping and a water refill station.

Phase 1, which involved the construction of the expanded features for the skate park, was completed ahead of schedule in September 2022, but came in over budget at $807,000 compared to the initial $673,000 estimate.
