Central Park building's 100th anniversary celebrated

The centennial was celebrated with entertainment, historical building tours, and unique art gallery and museum exhibits

The Central Park building celebrated its 100th birthday on June 14.

The occasion was celebrated with entertainment on the Smithers Community Radio (CICK) stage, historical building tours for the public, and unique art gallery and museum exhibits.

The celebration took place between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., in conjunction with the Bulkley Valley Farmer’s Market.

The building was the town's first courthouse and its first municipally-designated heritage building, before housing the Bulkley Valley Museum and Smithers Art Gallery.

It has since undergone extensive renovations to preserve it.
