The Bulkley Valley Community Foundation (BVCF) has announced the recipients for its 2024 community grants totalling $64,100, up from last year’s allotment of $58,800.

Among the recipients, BV Pool & Recreation Centre received a $5,000 grant to help support their Recreation Access Program.

“This program is for those who cannot afford the use of the BV Regional Pool and Recreation Centre,” manager Tamara Gillis said. “The Recreation Access Program allows individuals and families to utilize the swimming pools, climbing wall, fitness gym or courts for free 12 times a year. They also receive a $100 credit towards the future purchase of a program or membership, at a 50 per cent discount. It is a valuable program because it ensures that inclusiveness is a part of our community, even for those who can’t afford it. In 2023 we enabled over 65 families and individuals to access the facility.”

The purpose of the BVCF is to create opportunities for donors to support local initiatives, organizations, and individuals to improve the quality of life throughout our communities.
