This weekend the hard work and talent of Hazelton children and youth will be showcased at the high school in two performances of the musical Treasure Island.

Performers auditioned on Monday and have been working every day this week to perfect their roles and songs with the help and instruction of the Missoula Children’s Theatre.

For organizer Barb Janze, the opportunity to have the group come up and help put on this production is a benefit for many.

“If this week goes well and lots of people buy tickets and attend and the children have fun then it will be a great way to bring musicals to our community and we can do it again,” Janze said. “I’ve heard nothing but great things about the company and I know we can learn a lot.”

Tickets are on sale now at the Bulkley Valley Credit Union, the Royal Bank, Omenica Streetwear, Mercedes Beans, New Hazelton Elementary, John Field Elementary and the high school, and people are encouraged to buy tickets in advance.

There will be two performances this Saturday, with the first starting at 3 p.m. and the second at 5:30 p.m.
