Consultants from Public Design gave a thorough presentation June 20 on their Bulkley Valley Arts & Culture Centre pre-feasibility study.
It included three options, two of which involved building some or most of the infrastructure at the Smithers Public Library’s current location. A motion by council said that it was to be at the Central Park location, but the consultants thought it important to point out that may have a negative impact on the southwest (railway) end of Main Street.
The next step is to move toward a building design phase, where the hope is to bring the estimated $16.8-million cost down closer to the proposed $10-million budget.
A survey handed out at the meeting is available until the end of the day June 23 to give feedback to the consultants for their final report to council. Click here to print a copy.
Photos of options 2 and 3 are below the full presentation.
