The breadth of local talent was on display again last weekend at the Nature Diary exhibition at the Smithers Art Gallery.

The exhibition was a limited showing and silent auction as a fundraiser for the works that illustrate an outstanding publication featuring 66 works by 36 local artists.

A Bulkley Valley Year is a new nature diary which presents data collected by the Bulkley Valley Naturalists Club members. It’s an archive of the nature in the Bulkley Valley and it’s changes throughout the seasons.

Many of the works on display were part of the silent auction which ended on Friday evening. Details of the total funds raised were not available at press time. Of the funds raised, half is slated for the Art Gallery while the other half will go to the artists who produced the works.

The works ranged from animal sketches to landscapes. There was stained glass and a very wide variety of painting styles.
