Three French Immersion students from John Field Elementary school in Hazelton received their trophy for their amazing creation in the Popsicle Bridge Contest last Friday.

Grade 6 students David and Robert Charette and Grade 5 student Connor Newbery were presented with their trophy by the Chair of the Association of Professional Engineering and Geosciencetists, Northern BC branch’s Mark Gravel which teacher Susan Wernli-Roy said was a great honour.

“These boys really deserve some recognition for their hard work,” she said. “They are really good kids who work hard and it was exciting that Mark could come to present them personally with their trophy.”

The other competition that John Field students entered was the Where Challenge.

“We entered it by making a bilingual video, titled Aluminum Crane in English, following a visit to the aluminum smelter in Kitimat,” Wernli explained.

The official announcement of their win wasn’t made until this past Monday, June 6,  on the earthsciencescanada.com/where/ website.
