Putting spotlight on reading

This summer the Hazelton District Library is once again putting a spotlight on reading and literacy with several programs throughout the area.

This summer the Hazelton District Library is once again putting a spotlight on reading and literacy with several programs throughout the area. There is the Summer Reading Club in the Park which is underway every Friday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the gazebo at Allen Park. There is no charge and lots of stories, games, crafts and activities for children of all ages.

On Tuesdays there is the Summer Reading Club at the library called the “Keeners’ Club” and it is held from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. and is fro avid, independent readers. Participants are asked to set their reading goals and earn a medal. There is also a Read-to-Me program for emerging and beginning readers and their parents on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Summer Craft Club is for children between the ages of 6 and 8 years old and is on Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. until 4:55 p.m.
