Order of B.C. for Hazelton doc

It was announced last Friday that Dr. Phil Muir will be getting some of the credit due as he was named one of 14 British Columbians to receive the Order of British Columbia.

Anyone who has lived in the Hazeltons for a few years knows the hard work and dedication Dr. Phil Muir has and continues to give to his community.

He and his wife Peggy have long been key members of the Hazeltons and Phil’s work with the hospital is well known by many. He has always been a team player and has started many great programs and initiatives throughout his years at Wrinch Memorial Hospital. They are also very active in the United Church and sports.

It was announced last Friday that Phil will be getting some of the credit due as he was named one of 14 British Columbians to receive the Order of British Columbia.

Governor Steven Point, Chancellor of the Order made the announcement on September 2nd.

“The Order of British Columbia recognizes the excellence and achievements of our citizens,” he stated. “It is the highest honour we can bestow on individuals in our province.”

Premier Christy Clark also shared her appreciation to this years recipients.

“I want to offer my congratulations to all of this year’s recipients,” she said. “The one shared trait amongst all of them is a passion for making British Columbia a better place.”

Dr. Muir was selected by an independent advisory committee from public nominations and he will receive the Order of B.C. at an investiture ceremony held for the recipients at the Government House in Victoria on October 4th. Since its creation, 301 people have received the honour.
