The Misty River Art Gallery held their open house in their new building at the River Boat last Thursday.

Gallery president and entrepreneur, Rene Chandler, has big plans for the new location to help increase traffic through the gallery and said she is confident the new building will be more suited for tourism.

“It’s a lot more central and the building itself is a natural attraction,” she said. “It is also a lot easier to get into as the stairs leading up to our old gallery were kind of scary for some people because they were dark and pretty steep.”

With many of the tourists traveling through the area being older, climbing a large flight of stairs was not an option she added. While there are a few stairs in the new building, they are more open and easier to climb.

The first showing of the gallery is Pashan Bassett’s paintings and they will be on display throughout the month. Lots of other local artisan crafts and creations are also on sale at the new Gallery and anyone interested in having their art displayed should drop by or contact Rene at: rene36chandler@yahoo.ca or call 778-202-0172.
